Learn More About How we SparkleLuminate
A sparkle luminous effect occurs when sunlight backlights glass materials that have been formed to create extreme light refractions.
Bob’s glass work is inspired by his love for geometric designs, rainbow colors, and the healing and calming impact colored light brings to a home. He is drawn to bright colors and heavily textured shapes, which have what he calls a "sparkle-luminous" effect when backlit by sunlight and throw beautiful reflections around interior spaces. He’s particular about exclusively supporting US-based art glass manufacturers who:
- Pay their employees a living wage
- Produce products that are safe and conform to the highest quality standards
- Support their local communities
Raised in the small town in northern NH, his oil paintings reflect this love for the natural world and the mountains of NH where he hikes and backpacks often. He is drawn to producing scenes of serenity, quiet, and fall/winter scenes in the forest
All his glass and oil paint pieces are hand-crafted using time honored techniques and all glass and art materials are hand-selected in order to ensure that each piece has heirloom qualities when completed.

Frequently Asked Questions
-
Why do Glass products sourced and made in the USA cost more?
Art costs more when made from U.S. sourced materials. For example, my useful and beautiful glass objects are made by hand-cutting individual pieces of US-made art glass and joining them using traditional leading, fusing, and soldering techniques. This is a technically tricky and lengthy process that requires the expertise of a highly skilled maker with years of practice. The price of the source glass materials is also dependant on economic conditions. For example, pink and red glass are made with gold. So when the price of gold is rising, so goes the cost of the source materials.
-
How do I know I am getting quality?
I love what I do and I strive to do it well. It starts with only the best materials. But it's more than that. In art, as in life, it's the attention to little details that matter and separate the great from the merely good. An engineer by training, I take the extra time I need to do the job right the first time and produce products for sale that are my best work.
-
You produce all your windows at your NH studio. Is this good?
I produce all of my stained glass and oil painting artwork here in the USA. When you contact me, you are dealing directly with the artist. No middle man to mark up prices or confuse the process.
-
What is stained glass?
The standard definition is glass, resin, stone or other translucent material that has been colored in some way and used to create an image or pattern. A wide variety of techniques are available to create the color and the artistic effects. These include painting, applying stains and pigments to a surface, laminating colored films onto a surface, sandblasting, fusing pigments into its structure, hot and cold working, copper wheel cutting, acid etching, carving and textures. While some studios use one or two techniques, I have the capacity to use all of these techniques, depending upon the type of artwork being created.
-
Aren't plastic sun catchers just as good?
Our products are heirloom pieces crafted with the finest source materials. No plastic that fades over time. With care and conservation, each piece will last for potentially hundred of years.
-
Do you do repairs?
I do a very limited number of repairs when customers understand that typically repair costs may exceed the value of the finished piece. Usually when there is some sentimental value driving the repair. I also only repair vintage items that were clearly made in the US. This is primarily because items produced in Asia for the last several decades use impure solders that when melted off-gas toxic chemicals. Also be aware that the number of US art glass manufacturers has dwingled to 3. Making replacement/glass matching sometimes impossible.
-
Do you do custom versions of the pieces on the Web site?
Yes! Although I make all my pieces for mass appeal, I can make variants in any choice of colors. See something on the site that is sold? Don't fret, I can usually make a close duplicate.
